Nature in the ocean follows different rules than nature on land!

Nothing suggests that marine nature is less important or has less need of protection than nature on land but marine nature doesn’t rank highly on the political or societal agenda. This talk emphasizes some of the differences between nature on land and in the ocean, focusing especially on plant life. Plants form the very basis of the food web and are important regulators of the global carbon budget. As a result, they have an important role to play in climate development – and biodiversity matters! The talk traces our understanding of the ocean’s microscopic plants from when they were first observed (by van Leeuwenhoek in his microscope) until their recognition as agents in global climate development.

The doors are open from 18.30 where you can buy a cold drink for a favorable price and hang out before the talk begins.
The talk starts at 19.00, so please arrive no later than 19.00.
